Deccan Centre for International Relations – Strengthening South India’s global engagement.

About the Centre

The Deccan Centre for International Relations (Deccan Centre) is an independent think tank. It is the ninth centre under Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) and the only one dedicated exclusively to the study of international relations, relating to, inter alia, geopolitics, technology and business.

Based in Chennai city, Deccan Centre focusses on international relations of five South Indian states – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, and three Union Territories – Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.

Purpose and Vision

It will identify opportunities across geopolitics, security, technology (including digital), business, trade, diaspora, environment, maritime and other areas of mutual interest.

The Centre aims to build a strong platform highlighting South India’s role and voice in global discussions, strengthening policy and partnership dialogues across regions and themes.
